The Amerock Building
I have a love hate relationship with this building. I love it when the light shines through all the broken out windows at about 4pm every day…I hate everything else about it. It is my archenemy building. It’s like a little piece of East St. Louis right here where I live. Not gonna lie though. If someone gave it to me I’d totally do something cool with it. Lofts up top probably with restaurants in the first floor and art studio space to rent out. A proper little creative community. I think I hate it so much because the people who are blocking it’s demolition want to preserve it for being a historical site…which means no lofts or urban planning that would actually help the downtown. Here are some creepy interior shots. Funnest bit of this picture I took…there is a little cartoon “scary eyes” creature in the lower left. I see you.
I found out I am super allergic to ragweed, dogs, cats, and mildly allergic to dust mites. The wheat thing is pending on a blood test.
I am really sad I am allergic to this sweet pup.
The main highlight of my vacation (besides getting the stink blown off me as they say in the south) was going to see one of my favorite bands play over at La Zona Rose in Austin. I’ve been a fan of The Sounds for years but never thought I’d get to see them. Certainly not for around $20 at a small venue. And an even longer shot…I got five feet from Maja at the end. Yes, she is brilliant in real life. Gorgeous. Wow. So… I took a beer can to the head, already had been spilled on prior to that, had a very handsy girl come on to me twice before I finally ruled off incidental contact and told her off (seriously, uck), and got a few feet from a music idol of mine. It was a full night.
This is a vid of the band opening up.
Most of the pictures I took were crap, but this one, I gotta say, is brilliant. Heart hand boy was less amusing later. Let’s just say he had stamina with those heart hands.
I was actually a lot closer than this. The iPhone is crap for pictures really.
I was somewhere on the right there by the front of the stage.
The Limousines were the best opening act of the bunch. The lead singer is such a showman. Definitely go see them if they come to your town. I tweeted about them after the concert and the lead singer tweeted me. *_____*
Hopping on a jet plane on 11-11-11 and visiting my sister as well as taking in one of my favorite bands The Sounds in a small venue. Even though I can’t see that well at this point in my recovery and have to wear these relationship-repelling glasses for a while I’m sure it will be the best concert ever. Yeah, even better than box seats at U2. I am hoping for an all around nice getaway away from these health problems I’ve been having, work problems, and general stir craziness. And for a taste of a little Swedish band called The Sounds…
